The logo is for a homemade dessert and salad product, called Lavalina. The owner wanted to have a vintage badge look with some classy sense on it. So we went into this direction, using slightly modified font with simple ribbon below, and dark color with yellow / gold accents for the classy look. A little red ribbon with "Homemade" text is also giving another accent on the logo, not to strong but just enough.
These colors came up after I saw their testimony with a picture of apple crumble and coffee, and it suddenly "taste" a bold dark color right away in my mind. Maybe that coffee was playing tricks on my mind.
And yes, it's a quite bold in appearance with these chosen colors, but I think it also look elegant and classy, especially the yellow / gold color on top of the dark blueish color. Yet, for alternative color, it has greenish main color with white to replace the yellow, for salad products.
To finish this logo, I use Firealpaca to digitally sketching the idea roughly, and finalizing using Inkscape for vector output, as using vector will enable me to resize the logo without any quality loss of the image. As for photo manipulation I finally using Gimp, after long run using Pixelmator, because now my mac is dead :(. But Gimp also did the job done. And finally, I'm using this simple graphic conversion tool, Converseen, to convert the png to jpg for final upload file format.
